2025 Salkehatchie Summer Service – Columbia Camp – July 12 to 19

Well it was a very hot week in Columbia. Our Dacusville UMC group consisted of two youth and Pastor Brian. We spent the week sleeping in classrooms at Ashland UMC in Columbia. Many churches from the Columbia area also provided meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner each day.

Saturday was check-in day, we car pooled with Trinity UMC from Fountain Inn. We had lunch together, found our assigned rooms and then went on a tour of the three homes we would be working on.

Sunday was worship at Francis Burns UMC including lunch, then off to the river for kayaking and followed by fellowship, games and dinner by strEATS food truck which was delicious.

Monday through Friday were work days getting up at 6:00 AM and working until 4:30 PM with dinner, worship and activities each evening.

Saturday we had our closing worship, cleaned up the church and packed up and drove home.

As you can see much work was done at the two sites we worked on. There were two additional homes that were worked on by others in the group.
