Church History

E1802

  • Beginning in 1802 Francis Asbury stopped over for the weekend and preached two sermons, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. The area became know as the Bush River Circuit.

E1856

  • The church was officially organized in 1856 and services were held in a brush arbor located behind where the original Dacusville School stands. Later services were held in an old log building until 1875 when the first church, a frame building was built on the present site.

E1924

  • The old frame church was torn down and replaced by a new brick structure in 1924.

E1954

  • The educational structure was added in 1954.

E1978

  • In 1978 the parsonage was built just up the road.

E1983-1992

  • Between 1983 and 1992 the Scout Hut and Fellowship Building were constructed.

E1995

  • In 1995, Boston area artist, Susan Richards Kilmartin painted the mural on the altar wall “The Rays of God’s Light and Angels.”

E2003

  • In 2003 a new addition was added to the front of the building extending the sanctuary and dedicated in early 2004.
