Good morning, this is Pastor Brian.
Just wanted to give you a catch up video of a lot of things that have been going on and things that are upcoming here at Dacusville United Methodist.
We made it through Holy Week with wonderful worship services from a very somber Maundy Thursday service to to a celebration out by the cemetery for our Sunrise Service followed by an inspiring Easter worship service where we baptized two of our young children in our church and it was such a meaningful time.
Also, as we had journeyed through Lent, we studied with Matt Rawle in the Final Days study and we all dug much deeper into the scriptures that relate to Jesus’ passion than we normally had in the past and it was a wonderful time.
And now, as we begin this week, we start to shift our attention to our quarterly planning team meetings from all the different areas of the church and we begin this time of planning for the upcoming quarter and also for the summer months in our worship and other areas.
We have a lot of team meetings coming up this week as we work to plan our meetings in May around having time with family on Mother’s Day weekend and again on Memorial Day weekend so this is resulting in a number of meetings on the other weekends of this month.
We kick it off on Tuesday with our Finance team meeting at 6 pm in the conference room, and then on Wednesday we have the interest and planning meeting for Vacation Bible School where we want to put in place our team leaders for all aspects of the Vacation Bible School.
Then our Children’s Cohort team will be going to Columbia on Saturday to have our day-long training in Portico, the first stage of our work with the Children’s Cohort that was made possible through the Lilly Grant that we were successful in being able to be part of along with 11 other churches.
Sunday we will begin our day with worship and our worship will focus on strategy.
I hope you can come and join us for that exciting worship service.
Following our worship, we will have an acolyte information and training time for the young ones who are interested in doing the acolyting duties during each worship service and with their parents. We want to go over the importance of that role and make sure they understand that it is a very special honor to do that.
Following that acolyte session, we will have our IMPACT Youth gathering at our normal time.
And then at 2 o’clock our Worship Team will come together to work on planning the summer worship series.
Then the Trustees will meet at 5:30 pm to discuss the business of the church from that aspect.
Then we end up Sunday with the United Methodist Men coming for dinner, fellowship, and also a time of planning for their summer activities.
